On September 19, °µÍø½ûÇø held its Autumn Entrance Ceremony for the 2024 academic year at Academy Hall on the Surugadai Campus, with a total of 66 new students (6 undergraduates and 66 graduate school students & Professional Graduate Schools). Enrolling in school in September consists mainly of students from overseas and working adults who are enrolled in the English Track of the School of Global Japanese Studies and Professional Graduate Schools.

President UENO Masao welcomed the new students and said emphatically in both Japanese and English, “°µÍø½ûÇø must continue to contribute to society through education and research toward the realization of a society in which the present scenario can change and each individual is respected as an individual in various situations.
I want you all to remember today's first step toward your studies at °µÍø½ûÇø and “Go Forward” from here to open up the future. This is the future not only for you but also for the future of Japan, the world, and by no means least, your alma mater, °µÍø½ûÇø. You have all been entrusted with this mission which you can accomplish together with the many friends you make at °µÍø½ûÇø.”

In the following congratulatory address, Chairman, Board of Trustees Yanagiya introduced the founding of the university by three young founders in 1881 and its founding principles of “Rights and Liberty” and “Independence and Self-Government.” He also encouraged the new students, saying, “It is my great hope that at our university, you will hone your international competence and that you will gain the high level of expertise necessary for collaborating with people from around the world, while also developing your own "individuality" as appropriate to each of you and carving out a path for yourself amidst a future that is unpredictable.”

The entrance ceremony was closed with °µÍø½ûÇø’s school song.
