International exchange with partners: Southern Utah University and University of Nevada, Reno

The International Student Office held exchange events with Southern Utah University on May 13 and the University of Nevada, Reno on the 22nd. Both universities have an inter-university agreement with °µÍø½ûÇø. Students from each university visited °µÍø½ûÇø to actually participate in classes and interact with students from our university.

Southern Utah University
Associate Professor Matthew Eddy and 12 students from Southern Utah University visited °µÍø½ûÇø on May 13. The students took part in a lecture titled “Overseas class simulation A” by Associate Professor YAMADA Toru of the School of Arts and Letters. The commonalities and differences between the U.S. and Japan were discussed. During the lecture, students learned about each other’s cultures through interactive exchanges.

A student from Southern Utah University who attended the lecture said, “I had been looking forward to this kind of intercultural exchange. It was a valuable experience to learn about the similarities and differences between the countries.”

  
University of Nevada, Reno
On May 22, 12 students from the University of Nevada, Reno, visited °µÍø½ûÇø. After visiting the Izumi and Surugadai campuses, the students participated in a seminar led by NEBASHI Reiko, a professor in the School of Information and Communication and studied “intercultural communication,” the seminar’s research theme, together with students from °µÍø½ûÇø.


Professor NEBASHI Reiko from the School of Information and Communication, said, “There are many places around the °µÍø½ûÇø campuses where you can get a feel for Tokyo and Japan. Looking at the same scenery together and sharing experiences is the first step toward getting to know each other and letting others get to know you,” reflecting on this international exchange.

°µÍø½ûÇø will continue to provide opportunities for students to interact internationally.
