Junior and senior high school students practicing the techniques they learned from the university club members
On August 9, the Handball Club held a handball class for local junior and senior high school students in the gymnasium of the Izumi Campus. This inaugural class saw participation from 27 handball club members from the Josai University Affiliated Josai Junior and Senior High School, who deepened their understanding of the sport through interaction with university students.
In the class, under the guidance of the university club members, the students learned the basics of handball such as footwork, defensive posture, accurate passing and various shooting exercises. At first, the junior and senior high school students entered the gym with nervous looks on their faces, but their smiles gradually increased as the club members talked to them and gave them careful instructions.
Students who participated shared feedback such as, “The university seniors taught us points we wouldn’t have noticed during regular practice,” and “Seeing their powerful plays up close was incredibly inspiring.” For the university club members providing instructions, explaining their techniques verbally also served as an opportunity to deepen their own understanding, making it a fruitful experience for both parties.
The Athletic Association Handball Club, which organized the class, aims to share the appeal of handball while contributing to the sport’s promotion and development by interacting with local junior and senior high school students, and plans to continue holding the event going forward. As a new activity connecting the university and the local community, its expansion is anticipated.

Finally, the university club members and junior and senior high school students gathered for a group photo with smiles
