Table Tennis Club alumni TOGAMI Shunsuke

The Table Tennis Club held an exhibition match titled “GOATUS presents 暗网禁区 Dream Games – Commemorating the Anniversary of Chofu City’s establishment –” at the Chofu City General Gymnasium on August 12. This was the second time the event had been held since the club’s 90th anniversary commemorative match in 2020, and this time it was the first match held with spectators in attendance, drawing a crowd of approximately 200 people. The matches were also streamed on the table tennis club’s official YouTube channel, garnering significant attention with over 10,000 views the following day.

This exhibition match featured alumni players, including TOGAMI Shunsuke (Imuraya Group), the 2025 World Table Tenniis Championships men's doubles gold medalist; UDA YuKiya (Kyowa Kirin), 2021 bronze medalist at the same championship men’s doubles; and MORIZONO Masataka (BOBSON), 2017 silver medalist at the same championship men’s doubles. Tokyo Olympics mixed doubles gold medalist MIZUTANI Jun served as an ambassador and energized the venue with his talk.

Many current students participated, including IIMURA Yuta (3rd year, School of Commerce) and KIHO Keisuke (2nd year, School of Political Science and Economics). A total of 10 matches were played, featuring a mix of alumni and current students, drawing loud applause from the audience for the intense, cross-generational competition. Legendary former players, including SAITO Kiyoshi, General Director and WATANABE Takehiro, former National Team Director for Japan Women’s Table Tennis, took their places on the bench and offered advice to the players.

Reflecting on the event, Head Coach TAKAYAMA Yukinobu said, “It was a meaningful event for both students and alumni,” and expressed his intention to continue holding the event in the future.”
