MIURA Kao, a second-year student at the School of Political Science and Economics captured the bronze medal in the men’s singles at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, Skate Canada International, held from November 1 to 2 (local time).
Miura placed fourth in the short program with a score of 89.80 points. In the free skating, he successfully landed all his jumps in the first half, and despite some unstable landings on his triple Axel and other jumps in the latter half, he managed to complete his performance without major mistakes.
He scored 163.89 points in the free program, a season’s best, for a total of 253.69 points, earning him a comeback bronze medal.
For this competition, Miura switched his free skate music from “The Last Samurai,” which he used earlier this season at the Grand Prix de France, back to “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg,” his program from last season, to make a fresh start.
His bronze medal performance marks an encouraging result ahead of the All-Japan Figure Skating Championships (December 19–21), which will serve as the final qualifying event for Japan’s three men’s spots at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
